Lisa and Stacey Vicari grew up in the same Italian household where meals were large, loud, and more like battles to get the most food and get it fast. But twenty-one years ago Stacey, the younger sister, set out on a course to change her life, and her lifestyle habits. She dropped from a size 16 to a size 2 and has lost 50 pounds over those years – AND kept it off. She also has worked for over ten years as a life coach helping people get not just their eating and exercise, but their whole lives in order. This summer she’s sharing that knowledge with older sister Lisa, age 47, who is looking to make BIG changes in her habits. She’s coming down from Chicago to move in for two months, and this “odd couple” will begin a total life makeover for Lisa.
“As most people get older, they like their body less,” adds Vicari. “Today at 42 I am healthier than I have ever been and like my body more than ever. But it’s the result of twenty years of choices I have made.” The plan is to tackle three key elements of Lisa’s life – what she eats, how she moves, and her issues around body image, self-esteem and food. “This is not just about weight loss, though that will happen. This is about teaching my sister habits that she can repeat and stick with for years.”
“I am excited and of course a bit nervous too,” added Lisa. “The key for me will be having someone hold me accountable so I can keep these habits back in my day-to-day environment. It would just be nice to not have to shop in a plus-sized women’s store.”
The two plan to chronicle their journey on Vicari’s blog. “Did you ever wonder what it would be like to have your own personal chef, life coach, and exercise motivator live with you? Well I guess we’re going to find out,” Vicari added.
